Professor George Radan of Villanova University conducted several archeological explorations of sites of pre-union monasteries in Tuscany. Four of these were sponsored by Villanova University and the Augustinian Historical Institute in 1976, 1978, 1979, and 1984.
A exhibit concerning these excavations was held in Falvey Memorial Library in 1997.
